Enabling pop-ups to access Recur Sites
Last updated August 5, 2026
Objective
This guide helps resolve issues where the Recur Site Builder fails to open. Most often, this is caused by browser security settings that automatically block the pop-up window required to launch the editor.
Key Steps
Step 1: Identify the Issue
If you click on "Builder" and nothing happens, look at your browser's address bar.
You may see a small icon (often a window with a red 'X') indicating that a pop-up was blocked.
Step 2: Access Site-Specific Settings
You do not need to change your global security settings for every website; you can adjust them specifically for Recur:
Go to your browser's Address Bar (where the URL is typed).
Click the Lock Icon or the Settings Icon located to the left of the website address.
From the dropdown menu, select Site Settings.
Step 3: Modify Pop-up Permissions
A new tab will open showing the specific permissions for
app.recur.com.Scroll down to find the row labeled Pop-ups and redirects.
Change the selection from "Block" or "Block (default)" to Allow.
Step 4: Refresh and Relaunch
Close the settings tab and return to your Recur dashboard.
Refresh the page to ensure the new permissions are active.
Click on Builder again; the Site Builder should now open in a new tab successfully.
Cautionary Notes
Browser Differences: While these steps are demonstrated in Google Chrome, other browsers (like Safari or Edge) have similar "Site Settings" or "Preferences" menus accessible via the address bar.
Pop-up Blockers: If you use third-party extensions (like AdBlock), you may also need to "Whitelist" or "Pause" the blocker for the Recur domain to allow the builder to function.
Tips for Efficiency
One-Time Fix: Once you set the permission to "Allow" for Recur, your browser will remember this setting, and you shouldn't have to repeat these steps in the future.
Security Balance: By using "Site Settings" instead of changing your main browser preferences, you keep your general web browsing secure while still allowing Recur's professional tools to work correctly.
