Configuring your DNS settings for recur email

Last updated August 5, 2026

Objective

Configuring your DNS (Domain Name System) settings for Recur Email is essential to verify domain ownership, maximize your email deliverability, and prevent your communications from landing in your members' spam folders.

Key Steps

Step 1: Access Your Domain Provider

  • Log in to the administrative dashboard of your domain registrar or hosting provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google Domains).

  • Locate and navigate to the DNS Management, DNS Zone Editor, or Advanced DNS Settings panel.

Step 2: Configure the DNS Records

Add the following four records carefully to your DNS zone file. Copy and paste the exact text values provided below to avoid formatting errors:

1. SPF Record

  • Record Type: TXT

  • Name / Host: @

  • Value / Data: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:_spf.mailersend.net include:dc-aa8e722993._spfm.getrecur.com ~all

  • TTL: Shortest possible time

2. DKIM Record

  • Record Type: CNAME

  • Name / Host: mlsend2._domainkey

  • Value / Data: mlsend2._domainkey.mailersend.net

  • TTL: Shortest possible time

3. Return Path Record

  • Record Type: CNAME

  • Name / Host: mta

  • Value / Data: mailersend.net

  • TTL: Shortest possible time

4. Links Record

  • Record Type: CNAME

  • Name / Host: email

  • Value / Data: links.mailersend.net

  • TTL: Shortest possible time

Step 3: Optimize TTL (Time to Live) Settings

TTL dictates how quickly changes propagate across the internet.

  • Set the TTL for all four records to the shortest possible time available from your provider.

  • GoDaddy Users: Choose a custom TTL value of 600 seconds (10 minutes).

  • Other Providers: Use "Auto" or a duration as low as 1 minute (60 seconds) if supported.

Cautionary Notes

  • Propagation Delay: Due to global TTL rules, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours for these new records to update completely across the internet.

  • Existing SPF Records: If your domain already features an active v=spf1 TXT record, do not add a second one. Instead, merge the include: statements from the text above directly into your existing record before the closing ~all mechanism.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Zero Typos: When adding CNAME records, pay attention to whether your DNS provider automatically appends your root domain name to the "Name" field. If they do, entering mta will successfully resolve to mta.yourdomain.com, which is the intended outcome.

  • Deliverability Check: After saving these parameters, use an external test tool (like MXToolbox) or wait for Recur's internal validation status indicator to switch to green before initiating your first large-scale email campaign.
