Recur Sites blogs: blog posts, categories, authors

Last updated August 5, 2026

Objective

The Blog module within Recur Sites allows you to publish news, member spotlights, and industry updates to engage your audience and boost search engine visibility. This guide covers how to manage your blog library, create posts manually or using Recur's AI Content Generator, and structure your posts using Categories and Authors.

Navigating the Posts Dashboard

From your dashboard, go to Blog > Posts to access the main management view.

  • Filter and Search: Filter posts by publication status (Published vs. Drafts), specific authors, or tags (e.g., Member Benefits).

  • Display Views: Toggle between Card View and List View using the layout button in the top navigation.

  • Sorting: Sort entries by publish date or alphabetical title.

Method 1: Creating a Blog Post Manually

  1. Click Create Manually in the upper-right corner.

  2. Title & Scheduling: Enter your post title. Recur automatically generates the web URL. Select a Publication Date (setting a future date automatically schedules the post to go live later).

  3. Excerpt: Write a brief summary. This summary displays on post preview cards across your site.

  4. Design the Content: Drag and drop elements onto the canvas:

    • Add a Heading to introduce sections.

    • Insert Media blocks to feature images or graphics.

    • Add Columns and Text Boxes to layout your article copy.

  5. Metadata & Settings: On the right sidebar, assign a Featured Image, select an Author, assign a Category, add Tags, and verify public visibility.

  6. Click Create or Publish in the top-right corner.

Method 2: Creating a Blog Post with AI

To generate complete draft articles using built-in artificial intelligence:

  1. Click Create with AI in the top-right corner.

  2. Provide Detailed Prompts: In the main prompt box, type the specific details, key metrics, gala results, or member call-to-actions you want included.

  3. Set Post Parameters:

    • Target Audience: Specify your audience (e.g., Active Members, Corporate Sponsors, Local Leaders).

    • Tone: Select a tone from the dropdown menu (e.g., Educational, Professional, Casual).

    • Length: Choose between Short, Medium, or Long.

    • Keywords: Enter core keywords (e.g., Youth Tech Fund, Member Directory) and click the Plus (+) button to add them.

  4. Generate & Fine-Tune: Click Generate Blog Post.

  5. Edit AI Output: Once the text renders on the canvas, click into any text block to edit wording, remove unwanted sections, upload custom photos, or ask AI to rewrite specific passages.

  6. Add your Featured Image, Author, and Category, then click Publish or Save Post.

Organizing Categories and Authors

Managing Categories & Tag Rules

  • Go to Blog > Categories.

  • Click Create Category (e.g., Conferences) and choose whether it serves as a Top-Level Category or a sub-category under a parent item.

  • Bulk Assign by Tag: Automatically link articles to a category by entering a tag value (e.g., assigning all posts tagged with "Annual Conference" directly into the Conferences category).

Managing Authors

  • Go to Blog > Authors.

  • Pre-populate contributor names so team members can select themselves from a dropdown menu when authoring articles.

Cautionary Notes

  • AI Verification: While the AI generator structures articles and incorporates key highlights quickly, review generated facts, names, and event figures before hitting publish.

  • Draft Saving: Always click Save Post or Publish before navigating away from the editor to avoid losing formatting updates.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Card Thumbnails: Select high-resolution, appropriately sized images for your Featured Image field so article preview cards render neatly in news feeds.

  • Future Post Scheduling: Use the future publication date picker to batch-create several blog posts at once and have them automatically go live throughout the month.
