Last updated August 5, 2026
Objective
Adding a membership to a contact record manually in Recur allows administrators to manage offline payments, complimentary tiers, or custom active dates directly within a member's profile.
Step-by-Step Guide: Adding a Membership Manually
Step 1: Locate the Contact Record
Navigate to the top navigation bar and select Contacts.
Click People from the dropdown menu.
Locate the individual contact using the search bar or by scrolling through your directory, then click on their Name to open their profile.
Step 2: Access Membership Settings
On the contact's profile page, scroll to the middle section where it says Membership / Sponsorship Profile.
Click into this section to view their active or past membership history.
Step 3: Assign and Configure the Membership
Click the Add Membership button.
Select a pre-configured membership tier from the Product dropdown list.
Set the Start Date (e.g., today's date).
Set the End Date (e.g., set for 1 year from the start date).
Click Add Membership to save and apply the status.
Modifying or Removing a Membership
Editing Dates or Tiers: Click the Pencil (Edit) icon next to an active membership record to adjust the start/end dates, then click Update Membership.
Deleting a Membership: Click the Trash Can (Delete) icon next to the membership record to remove it from the contact's profile permanently.
Cautionary Notes
Date Dependencies: Ensure the end date is correctly calculated before saving to prevent automated system flags or early renewal notifications.
Pre-requisite Products: You must build your membership tiers under your product settings before they appear in the manual assignment dropdown.
Tips for Efficiency
Audit Trail: Check a contact's Membership / Sponsorship Profile before applying a new membership to ensure they do not have overlapping active subscriptions.
