Syncing your Recur data with custom sites

Last updated August 5, 2026

Objective

This guide explains how to troubleshoot and resolve data synchronization issues between your Recur Main Application and your Custom Website. Occasionally, dynamic widgets (like event lists) may show outdated or mismatched information. This "Recur Sync" tool forces the website to pull the absolute latest data from your database.

Key Steps

Step 1: Access the Sync Settings

  • From the website builder, navigate to your Settings.

  • Click on the Recur tab.

  • Status Check: View the connection status. You may see a discrepancy where the "Database" count (available items) and the "Website" count (cached items) do not match (e.g., 2 available vs. 1 shown).

Step 2: Clear Cached Data

  • Click the button labeled Clear Cached Events.

  • What this does: This clears the temporary "memory" of the website builder.

  • Safety Note: This does not delete your events in the main Recur application; it only refreshes the "snapshot" the website is using.

Step 3: Trigger a Manual Sync

  • Once the cache is cleared, click Sync Events.

  • The system will reach out to the main Recur database to grab the most recent updates.

  • Time Gate: Note that you can only trigger a manual sync once within a specific timeframe (to prevent server overload).

Step 4: Verify the Results

  • Refresh your browser page.

  • Check the Recur settings tab again. You should now see that the Database and Events numbers are identical, confirming the sync was successful.

Cautionary Notes

  • Temporary Discrepancy: If you just created an event and it doesn't appear immediately, wait a few minutes before clearing the cache, as the system may still be processing the background update.

  • Main App vs. Site: Always remember that your "Sites" data is a reflection of your "Application" data. If an event is missing from the main Recur app, no amount of syncing will make it appear on the website.

Tips for Efficiency

  • The "One-Two Punch": If your website isn't showing a new event, always perform the Clear then Sync actions in that specific order for the most reliable results.

  • Troubleshooting Widgets: If an Event List widget on your homepage looks "broken" or empty, this sync tool is the first place you should go before attempting to rebuild the widget.

  • Post-Update Check: Get into the habit of checking this settings tab after making major bulk changes to your event calendar to ensure your public-facing site stays accurate.
